These are Bruce’s two favorite providers for photography gear:
Protecting equipment from moisture
These heavy duty plastic bags are great for keeping pieces of gear dry during travel and when out and about in the rainforest. Just squeeze out the air before sealing the bag.
On a short stay in the tropics, such as one of our tours, the collection of fungal spores on equipment is not an issue. However, photographers are concerned about rainforest humidity, which promotes the growth of fungus, during long expeditions such as biological surveys. The best approach is to place individual pieces of gear into heavy ziploc bags with rechargeable dessication units. These units by Eva-Dry get plugged into a standard 120V outlet to remove absorbed moisture and “recharge” them.
